Replace the hard drive. I'm sure the fan on the terastation is working perfectly...I mean...it's certainly spinning ok....whether the small fan is enough to combat the extreme heat here maybe another question. So I put the same HD into the buffalo and tried to format it. About three months ago, with advice from this forum, I swapped out the original 500gb drives and put in four 1.5tb drives (using the method to save the existing drive data).
