Not really an answer but the theory of why it works. Don't ask why, we don't know and could not find an answer to that question even from Brother. We are now investigating the problem.
Obviously if you go to Amazon.com or anywhere you can find compatiable drums and toners. Well, that part seems fine. The most helpful procedure is the one descibed by Anonymous (1/20/09 10:39 AM). I manually, and carefully, pull this completely out. the drum is light sensative and u shouldnt realy touch them. excellent stuff! - Medair UK I also noticed something: when I had the error message "open the back cover, then close it" When it still had the error message, that long I put the blue slide in the center and tried to blow out as much toner from both sides as I could.
